Real Life Wedding - Lauren and Nathan
Lauren and Nathan got married with us at Hensol Castle last August and what a gorgeous day it was! We loved their timeless colour theme and their choice to use our Courtyard Hall for their ceremony. The whole day was captured beautifully by Huw & Dale photography and we caught up with Mr & Mrs Payne to chat about their special day below…
Why did you choose Hensol Castle as your wedding venue?
It was just such a beautiful venue. We saw Hensol Castle online and I immediately fell in love with it. So we booked an appointment with Laura to have a tour and as expected, we loved it even more when we saw it in person. The castle itself is just breathtakingly beautiful, the lake, the grounds.. everything was just perfect.
How did you decide on your wedding decor?
When we started planning the wedding, I knew I didn’t want a bright / obvious pop of colour. I had seen weddings online where they were really classy and elegant and I loved it. From then, I knew I just wanted creams and greens. Nice and simple. We looked at who Hensol Castle recommended and that’s when we found ‘Be Our Guest’. We looked on their social media pages and I literally just picked out all of the decor that I loved.
What's the one piece of advice you'd give to wedding couples who are planning their wedding?
Plan everything in advance and think everything through thoroughly so you don’t miss the little details. All I kept reminding myself was that I didn’t want to be at our wedding thinking ‘aw I didn’t think of that’ or ‘I wish I had done this’. So I kept walking myself through the day as the bride, groom, guest, you name it - I was imagining being that person!! Due to having a long engagement (2 years) it meant that we had plenty of time to plan everything and I found it to be my hobby - I really enjoyed planning it and I can honestly say I didn’t get stressed at all because I set myself little goals every couple of weeks and as long as I kept to the schedule - it was stress free.
